Expert Paediatric Care
Paediatric Allergy & Child Health Clinic
Specialist allergy assessment, diagnosis and management for babies, children and adolescents.
Our paediatric allergy service provides comprehensive assessment and management of allergic conditions, drawing on the latest evidence-based guidelines — including the 2025 European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) guidelines on IgE-mediated food allergy management. We offer personalised care plans tailored to each child and family, with a holistic approach to both physical and emotional wellbeing.
From the first signs of cow's milk protein allergy in infancy through to complex multi-food allergies and co-existing eczema or asthma in older children, our clinic covers the full spectrum of paediatric allergy care from birth to 16 years of age.
Conditions We Assess and Treat
Our paediatric allergy services are designed for children with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including:
Allergy & Immunology
Respiratory
| Paediatrics allergy Immunotherapy & Vaccines

Comprehensive Allergy Testing for Children
Accurate diagnosis is the cornerstone of safe allergy management. We provide a full scope of allergy investigations for babies, children and adolescents, including:
Skin Prick Testing Rapid, in-clinic testing for immediate IgE-mediated reactions to foods, pollens, animal dander, house dust mite and more. | Specific IgE Blood Tests Component-resolved diagnostics (CRD) and specific IgE panels to identify sensitisation profiles and guide risk stratification. | Patch Testing & Food Challenges Supervised food challenges and patch testing for delayed-type (non-IgE) reactions, conducted safely in a clinical setting. |
Test results are interpreted in the context of your child's clinical history — no single test result is used in isolation. Our consultant will explain findings clearly and outline a personalised management plan, including a written emergency action plan and, where required, adrenaline auto-injector prescription and training.
Immunotherapy & Emerging Treatments
The allergy treatment landscape has advanced significantly. The updated 2025 EAACI guidelines now recommend allergen immunotherapy as a first-line active treatment option for eligible children, moving beyond allergen avoidance alone.
We currently offer:
- Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) for hay fever, house dust mite and domestic pet allergy — a safe, convenient and evidence-based approach to reduce allergic sensitisation over time
- All childhood immunisations, including catch-up programmes and travel vaccines
Working towards:
- Oral immunotherapy (OIT) for food allergens — we are actively working to establish this treatment within our hospital group, in line with current EAACI guidance recommending OIT for peanut and other food allergies in children and adolescents
- Biologic therapies (such as omalizumab) are discussed and, where appropriate, referral pathways are coordinated for patients who meet eligibility criteria

Frequently Asked Questions
What age range does the paediatric allergy clinic see?
We see patients from birth (including formula-fed and breastfed babies with suspected cow's milk protein allergy) through to 16 years of age. Younger children and infants are very welcome.
Do I need a GP referral to book an appointment?
No. You can self-refer directly to our clinic. However, a referral letter from your GP or health visitor can be helpful as it provides useful background clinical information for your consultant.
What should I bring to my child's allergy appointment?
Please bring any previous allergy test results, a food diary if relevant, a list of current medications (including any antihistamines), your child's Red Book (for younger children), and a list of questions you would like to discuss.
Does the clinic offer oral immunotherapy (OIT) for food allergies?
We do not currently offer oral immunotherapy for food allergens, but we are actively working to establish this treatment within our hospital group. Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) for environmental allergens is available now. Please ask at your consultation for the latest update on OIT availability.
Will my child receive a written management plan?
Yes. Every child with a confirmed food allergy or risk of anaphylaxis is provided with a personalised written emergency action plan (allergy action plan), including guidance for schools, nurseries and carers. Adrenaline auto-injector training is provided where indicated.
