What to expect during Allergy appointment in the Allergy Clinic:
Allergy testing in Allergy Clinic East London is performed by Allergy Consultant. Allergy Clinic can offer wide range of treatments including sub-cutaneous and sub-lingual specific immunotherpy treatment in for hay fever and allergic asthma treatment.
Skin prick allergy testing involves placing drops of allergens on patient’s skin (forearm or back), then allergy consultant will apply some pressure through the drop with a special sterile device (this will introduce allergen in the upper layer of the skin). Results of the allergy testing are usually ready in 15 minutes and interpreted on site in line with the patient’s history.
Please make sure that you avoid antihistamines 2 days before your appointment in the clinic as this test looks into histamine release and antihistamines will cause false negative results. If you cant stop antihistamines before your allergy testing appointment in the Allergy Clinic there is a range of other allergy tests that can be done instead of skin prick test please tell this to your consultant or e-mail this to our customer support. Please bring all relevant medical documents, test results and list of your medication (if you take inhalers for asthma please bring them with you).
